Do I have to bring my own gears or I can buy in Kathmandu?

It depends which brand you prefer. Usually, you can find hundreds of trekking shops selling varieties of trekking and expedition gears around Thamel. There is few branded gears outlet like North Face, Red Fox, Sherpa, Black Yak, Mammut, Mountain Hardwear etc. You can also choose to buy low priced gears if you consider it for using few times only. You also have an option of renting some of the gears like sleeping bags, tents etc in Kathmandu.

How easy it is buy sim card and use mobile data in Nepal?

Getting a sim card is easy in Nepal. You can get sim card upon your arrival in international airport OR even buy in local shops in Thamel or anywhere in Kathmandu. You just need your passport copy and two PP size headshot. After you get sim card you can top-up balance and buy a mobile data (4G or 3G).

Do I need a travel Insurance?

Yes, travel insurance is must for you in order to do your trek. You must check that it covers high altitude emergency evacuation/rescue and medical expenses.

What is Acute Mountain Sickness and what shall I do in case of AMS?

AMS is generally caused by acute exposure to low amounts of oxygen at high altitude esp. above 2,400 meters. Some of the symptoms of AMS are Dizziness, nausea, headaches, and shortness of breath. There are some measures to alleviate AMS like drinking lots of water, acclimatization and descend down to a lower altitude. In case of serious emergency on AMS or if immediate treatment is needed then you will be taken to the nearby hospital or back to Kathmandu.

Can I get purified water on my trek?

Yes, many hotels and restaurants in trekking areas sell bottled water. Locally purified water can also be found in some areas where you can pay to fill up your water bottle. The other option could be carrying a water purification tablets or liquid and using that in spring OR tap water.

Can I get internet services during my trek?

Well, this depends on the region where you’re trekking. These days internet can be found in many trekking areas. We recommend you to make a special inquiry beforehand for the updated information to our staffs.

Do I need a guide, or can I go on my own?

You could do both for many trekking routes. There are some trekking areas where the guide is mandatory. But we usually recommend trekkers to take a guide with them for their easiness and also to get an in-depth perception of the region where they’re trekking.

How many hours per day should I walk?

Usually, we design your itinerary with 5/6 hours of walk in a day, depending on the trail and altitude of trekking.

What is the best time of year for trekking?

There are two seasons in Nepal which are considered favourable for trekking. The seasons are Feb-May and Sept-Nov. Besides this, some parts of the country like Mustang and Upper West region of Annapurna Conservation Area are accessible and can be enjoyed in fullest also during monsoon season (Jun-Aug). Besides trekking, if you decide to go on tour, wildlife safaris and voluntourism, you can visit throughout the year.

What is teahouse trekking and what should I expect?

Teahouse generally means a local lodge/guesthouse opened by a local where you can get basic accommodation and food. The teahouses don’t offer luxurious accommodation and food like an urban area. It offers a basic food and simple accommodation and is clean and comfortable also. These days most of the teahouses offer internet facilities and some also provide a hot shower with extra charge.

How difficult is the trekking in Nepal?

Most of the trekking in Nepal ranges from 3 days to 3 weeks depending on the area of trekking. The difficulty of the trek depends upon the maximum altitude you’ll reach, walking hours and number of days. We design your itinerary in a very low-stress way and walk a comfortable distance each day. You need to be reasonably physically fit for the trekking in the Himalayas. We have graded our every trek into easy to strenuous. You should check the grade before you decide your trek.

How do I get a visa on-arrival?

After you enter Nepal, whether, by flight or road you need to proceed to the immigration counter there. You can get the visa application form there which you need to fill it up and submit it to the immigration counter for processing of tourist visa-on-arrival. Please note that you need USD cash and two passport photographs with the form. Do I need visa to travel Nepal?

Yes, all foreign nationals need a visa to travel Nepal except Indian citizens. You need a tourist visa on arrival.

Can I enter Nepal via India by road?

Yes, you can enter Nepal via India also. Following are the entry and exit point from and to India. There is immigration office/counter in the border crossing where you can apply for a tourist visa on arrival. Kakarbhitta, Jhapa (Eastern) Birgunj, Parsa (Central) Belhia, Bhairahawa (Rupandehi, Western) Jamunaha, Nepalgunj (Banke, Mid-Western) Mohana, Dhangadhi (Kailali, Far Western) Gadda Chauki, Mahendranagar (Kanchanpur, Far Western)

How can I fly to Nepal?

Some international airlines like Thai Airways, Qatar Airways, Indian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Jet Airways, Korean Air, Etihad Air, Silk Air, Air Arabia, Druk Air, Malindo Air, Air China, China Southern, China Eastern, Oman Air, Tibet Airlines, Nepal Airlines, Himalaya Airlines and Cathay Pacific have scheduled flights to Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. It is the only international airport in Nepal.
